Over the weekend, Meghan Markle’s dog Mamma Mia made a surprise appearance in photos with her friend Abigail Spencer. The Duchess of Sussex has been gifting jars of her exclusive American Riviera Orchard jam to her close friends, including Harry’s polo player buddy Nacho Figueras, actress Tracee Ellis Ross, and activist Kelly McKee Zajfen. The newest influencer to showcase the delicious jam is Meghan’s former Suits co-star Abigail, who shared a picture on Instagram holding the strawberry preserve in a beautiful garden. Abigail captioned the photos with, “This jam is my jam. A delightful preview of things to come… love you so much.” The post features Abigail lying on the grass with a beagle, which fans quickly recognized as Mamma Mia, the lovable dog that Harry and Meghan adopted in 2022.
Abigail Spencer, a close friend of Meghan Markle and her former co-star on the show Suits, is among the fortunate recipients of one of the exclusive 50 jars of the Duchess’ latest creation – the American Riviera Orchard strawberry jam.
During a glamorous photoshoot today, Abigail, who is 42 years old, proudly showed off the sixth jar from the latest batch of preserves she received as a gift. The photos captured her lounging in the grass with the special jar on display.
Abigail, Meghan’s former colleague from the TV show Suits, recently shared a photo on Instagram holding a jar of strawberry jam in a beautiful garden setting.
One of the many beagles bred at the Envigo facility in Virginia was a nine-year-old dog who was rescued after being found with her paw trapped in loose flooring, suffering from dehydration. Unfortunately, nine other injured beagles at the facility were euthanized instead of receiving proper medical treatment.
Following inspections that revealed mistreatment of the beagles, a plan was approved to rescue the remaining dogs. These beagles were eventually transferred to the Humane Society of the United States and then to various shelters, including the Beagle Freedom Project.
One of the rescued beagles, named Mamma Mia, found her forever home with Harry and Meghan through the Beagle Freedom Project in August 2022. It is speculated that the photo of Abigail with the strawberry preserve may have been taken in Meghan’s Montecito garden, or perhaps Meghan was visiting Abigail along with Mamma Mia.
The nine-year-old canine was once part of a group of 4000 beagles bred at the Envigo breeding and research center in Virginia to be sold for use in pharmaceutical and biotech studies. Some people have suggested that Meghan may have taken the photo herself. Abigail, known for her roles in Grey’s Anatomy, is the sixth person to share a picture with the Duchess’s jam. This post comes after Meghan and Abigail were seen happily together in Instagram photos supporting their friend Kelly McKee Zajfen’s Mother’s Day campaign for her charity ‘Alliance of Moms.’ Kelly, 44, also received one of the sought-after jars and expressed her pride in the Duchess on social media. Meghan sent her friends this exclusive jar before the official launch of her brand later this spring. While most of the 50 recipients have yet to publicly acknowledge the gift, Abigail proudly showcased hers in a photoshoot today, with the jar of jam surrounded by flowers in a bowl of lemons.

Pictures taken in 2021 captured some of the dogs being transported to Homeward Trails Animal Rescue, showcasing their journey to a better life.
Posing with her furry friend in a bright garden, the Grey’s Anatomy actress proudly showed off a ceramic bowl in a recent photo.
“This jam is absolutely delicious,” she shared with her followers. “A delightful preview of things to come… sending love to you all M.”
Her social media post received positive feedback, with Mindy Kaling commenting that it was like a ray of sunshine and pure happiness.
Renowned American jewelry designer Maya Brenner, known for creating the famous necklace worn by Meghan in 2016, also chimed in on Abigail’s post.
“Such a beautiful picture,” she remarked. “Our Love Retreat necklace collaboration is making a special appearance too.”
Meanwhile, Nacho Figueras, also known as the ‘David Beckham of polo’ according to Tatler, posted images of himself enjoying the jam on toast on Instagram, following his wife Delfina Blaquier’s earlier promotion of the product.
The animals were rescued back in July and were taken in by various organizations, including the Beagle Freedom Project, who cared for 25 of the dogs. Actress Mindy Kaling and Tracee Ellis Ross, daughter of Diana Ross, recently shared that they were gifted jars of jam from the Duchess as she prepares to launch her new lifestyle brand. Fashion designer Tracy Robbins also posted a photo of the bottle. With Meghan’s celebrity friends promoting her brand, it gives a glimpse into the target audience she is aiming for. Meghan, an animal lover, has adopted several rescue dogs over the years, including her American rescue beagle Guy, whom she brought to the UK when she married Harry. Meghan chose animal welfare charity Mayhew as one of her first patronages. Unfortunately, she had to leave behind Bogart, a Labrador-shepherd mix, when she moved to England. Meghan has always expressed how much her rescue dogs mean to her, lovingly referring to them as ‘my loves’ and ‘my boys’. Guy and Bogart often made appearances on her Instagram, with Guy even sporting a knitted Union flag jumper. Meghan frequently used the ‘#adoptdontshop’ hashtag in her social media posts. American comedian Ellen DeGeneres played a role in convincing Meghan to adopt her first pet, Bogart, after they met in a shelter. While in the UK, Meghan and Harry also adopted a Labrador named Pula, and they also have rescued chickens from a factory farm.
