An 8-month-old pit bull in California is being hailed a hero after alerting her family to a fire in their apartment complex and then saving their 7-month-old daughter by pulling her by her diaper.
When fires broke out at Nana Chaichanhda’s apparent complex in Stockton, Calif., her dog Sasha, who was outside, leapt to action and “began banging on the rear door.”
“I open it, and she rushes in and starts barking at me like crazy, and I’m thinking, ‘OK, this is strange.’” This is not typical of her.” Chaichanhda explained to FOX40.
Chaichanhda hurried to grab her 7-month-old kid after noticing flames engulfing part of the apartment building. Sasha, on the other hand, was already attempting to help the young child when she entered the room.

“She got my kid by the diaper and was pulling her off the bed,” she explained to FOX40. “I thought to myself, ‘Oh my god, what are you doing?’”
The family escaped the flat unscathed thanks to Sasha. According to FOX40, the fire damage has rendered Chaichanhda’s residence unusable.
For the time being, Chaichanhda, her baby, Sasha, and her cousin, whose apartment was also damaged by the fire, are staying with an aunt who also lives in a section of the complex that was not damaged by the fire.
The Stockton Incident Department tells FOX40 that the cause of the fire is still being investigated.
“It meant a lot to me. “I owe everything to her,” Chaichanhda stated of Sasha. “If it hadn’t been for her, I would still be in bed, and things may have gone much worse.”
